Important tips: I coated the thread of the wood screws with a LITTLE bit of liquid dish detergent, because the screws were difficult to screw in--the coating made it much easier. Also, coated the two male wooden dowels for the two dowel joints. Had to go backwards and loosen up a couple of screws and jockey the parts around a bit to get the trays properly fitted into the tray slots. Do not coat the screws for the knobs. "Open your "patience drawer" and fill up one of your pockets with some patience." (Or, better yet, give it to your kid to take to his wood working shop class in school and let them put it together--just kidding.) Take care that you put it together on a table or work surface with any kind of material or padding to protect the work surface and your new accent/end table--you do not want to mar the surface and finish of your work surface or your new table. It is truly the natural wood color. I am pleased with the table. The table came properly and adequately packaged to protect it during shipping. It is not flimsy or shaky, however, it will not withstand a nuclear blast. Some of the parts are "composite" and not solid wood--if that is what you want, you will have to double or triple the price. This table is exactly what I wanted and needed, and I think it looks very nice.

Obviously this isn’t a high end item — heck, a lot of stuff touted as high end isn’t. This is a simple accent table that you have to put together yourself. And for my purposes, it’s perfect. It took me about an hour to complete the major portion of it as seen in the attached photos. All the required hardware was included with nothing missing. The only tools you need are a phillips head screwdriver, a mallet to tap in the wood plugs, and a little common sense. All the predrilled holes lined up. I’m very pleased with the end result for the price I paid; apart from the bottoms of the shelves and face of the bottom cabinet it seems to be made of decent quality wood. Next I’m going to antique it.

I bought this to hold my laptop because I'm using desk space to hold an external keyboard, speakers and a 22" monitor. When I opened the box (which was well packed) and saw all of the parts, I was afraid it was going to be a nightmare to put it together. Thankfully, it was not. I took the time to lay out all of the parts and matched them up with the instructions. As others have mentioned, the screws took a little effort to put in, but I used a short philips screwdriver and one of those pads that you use to open pickle jars with. I didn't see a need to use a drill though. I would choose it again. Well worth the money. I looks good and it's very solid.

This is a HUGE bargain! Make no mistake, it is not hand crafted by a world class carpenter. But you didn’t pay for that either! If you need to put your lamp, books, flashlight, pen paper and phone charger on or in it you simply can’t do better.AssemblyI built two of them by myself in about 90 minutes. I have built many many of these types of products so I know what to do and not to do. It’s simple but experience helps.SturdinessSome of it is thin wood (NOT cardboard as mentioned elsewhere) but the weight bearing frame part is more than strong enough to do the job. It will hold your lamp, books and iPads. But I wouldn’t stand on it to catch that spider crawling in the ceiling.
