It's hard to assemble. It is not only to get big screws in the round foot rests. The allen wrench is easy stripped. The good thing is that I have a few allen wrenches. Also a few holes are redrilling, kind like a figure 8.To make screw in the round foot rest easier, I applied screws with two allen wrenches simultaneously. So I don't have to hold the round foot rests while tying the screws.
They look great if you can get them together. The predrilled screw holes are way too small. After twisting on my screwdriver for a long, hurtful time, I got out the old electric drill (Here we go again!) and drilled much bigger holes for the large screws. Then it worked. You can't assemble these unless you have an electric drill and have lots of patience, or have the hand-strength of Arnold Schwarzennegger.
They look fine, and the seat us nice and earthy, but assembly was difficult for two reasons:1. The round lower cross bars fit into round holes in the legs. In order to drive the big screws through the legs and into those round cross bars, you'll need some way to prevent the bars from rotating in those holes, preferably without marring the finish on the bars. I used one hand to hold it, but that means you are holding a 1 inch diameter, smooth, round bar as you're applying the driving torque using a wrench with a 4 inch lever arm. Long story short, you'll need to grab that bar really tightly if you want those screws to go in all the way.2. The 4mm allen wrench supplied by the manufacturer isn't made with hardened steel--at least not as hardened as the steel the screws are made from. The one I had in the hardware kit was stripped round by the second screw! Luckily I had my own metric allen wrench set!
Great for the price!
I purchased four of these stools and three of them turned out beautifully. Very easy to put together and look very nice. The last stool I assembled not go together correctly. I had already put together 3 of them and thrown away the packaging. I reached out to the company about that last stool and they said they needed of course all the info that was on the package I’d already thrown away. So, they seem good but don’t throw away anything until you see that everything is good.
