It's real wood, not pressed board. Easy to assemble. All parts included. Sturdy and nice. Well packaged, too, and fast shipping.
That’s 2 shelves now from Winsome that I’m really happy with. My apartment is small and I had the challenge when I moved in of figuring out how to use my desktop. I’m also a full time student with a lot of books. This unit allowed me to put my desktop on the top of the shelf, my printer on the middle shelf and books everywhere else. The unit moves if you shove at it of course, but simply walking around or tapping the shelves doesn’t cause any movement that causes me concern. I’ll update this if that changes. The shelving came with everything it needed to assemble and I didn’t use anything else. Photo isn’t great but hopefully you’ll get the idea of how much it holds.
I had little problem putting this piece together, primarily because I put together a companion piece hours before putting this together. In total it took me about 2 hours to put both together. The first one took a little more time because I had issues connecting the two panels to the boards in the middle. This second one came together very nicely. As with the first shelf, I made a point to widen the holes on the shelf planks. I dod this by screwing the screws halfway into each hole. I would purchase both of pieces again and recommend them. They are sturdy and look very nice.
The wood is "inexpensive" quality with lots of dings right out of the box but for the price, there wasn't anything I couldn't live with. I was able to put it together by myself in about 30-40 min. Directions were clear and it assembled with no problems. It takes time using the included hex wrench but I wouldn't want to use any power tool for fear of overdoing it. I tightened to hand tight as any further sounded like it would damage the wood. It neatly holds the square fabric boxes I've used in cubicle shelving. The packaging was sufficient with probably 90% of it able to go in the recycling bin. I still need to see how it responds to a load of books. Assuming that goes well, I plan to get more shelves.
Shelves are very sturdy and look nice. The book case is fairly smallish. But it is a nice color and goes well with the baskets you can buy for it.
