As a person that gets daunted with building Ikea furniture, this shelf was very easy to assemble. It's quite sturdy and made of wood. It doesn't take up much space and can easily hold heavier items than plants such as books, figurines, etc. Beautiful and classy looking shelf.Very happy with the unit for putting my plants on. I wish they made this in a larger version so I can purchase a bunch to line the walls with for a living room plant jungle.
My friend gave me one of these four-ish years ago that I did a bad stain job on so I needed a prettier one for my new house. Well having had one that lasted two owners and years of use, I knew I could confidently repurchase and not be disappointed. I wasn’t! I love the black and it’s still the same great shelf. The fact that it comes assembled is worth five stars alone. All you need to do is add the top shelf. It’s certainly five stars - especially at the price point. Pretty sturdy, nice solid wood. I would recommend over and over. I added peel and stick wallpaper to my shelves and it looks awesome! Don’t expect this to be Amish-level quality but do expect it to be an incredible value.
I have two of these. One I originally had at work as a small bookshelf. They're easy to move around. The second I acquired as a substitute wine rack.
The good: it is real wood and a good design. It's attractive and sturdy too. It's lightweight and pretty easily to assemble if you can figure out how. The bad: the wood is very very soft and chips easily. The paint is pretty terrible, if you're going to put it where it can be seen, you're gonna have to repaint. I had to touch up a lot of spots, but it's going in a bedroom, so it's not a huge deal.Just know this, the only way to install the top shelf is to pre-mount one shelf peg-bracket, turn the whole unit upside down, then install the opposite bracket with the peg already in the side hole. The mounting holes on the shelf itself don't all line up either, so put a screw through one hole and just make your own 2nd hole with a cordless drill & a screwdriver bit.All-in-all, we like it, but it's definitely over-priced for the quality.
This is a beautiful product and I am pleased overall. It is sturdy and good quality. The only challenge was installing the top shelf; a bit difficult because of the tight fit. It was hard, but I finally was able to force it in place without scratching the wood. Maybe it will be easier for someone else. :). I need another one so I will definitely buy again.
